Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the address of PCNC?

4305 Redwood Road, Durham NC, 27704

When you arrive, you will see a large barn right by our mailbox and a gravel driveway. You will pull in the driveway to find parking.

  • Where should visitors park?

Our Nature Center has one long gravel driveway that runs through it. Once you enter our main gravel drive, you will notice blue parking signs. You can park anywhere along the driveway. Overflow parking can be found along Hereford Road (which T-intersects Redwood Road) right near our main entrance.

  • Do you have bathrooms?

In order to be as environmentally conscious as we can, we provide visitors with a “moldering privy”. A moldering privy is a style of outdoor composting toilet commonly found in remote wilderness environments. It is incredibly clean, does not have an odor and is located within a private stall. We do not have a conventional flush toilet.

  • Can I walk around the farm?

We share the land of the Panther Creek Nature Center with a working farm (Panther Creek Forest Farm). You are welcome to walk around the property and view the farm from our trails. However we ask that visitors not enter the main production area (outlined in our visitors guide). We also ask visitors to stay off of all farm equipment.

  • Can I bring my dog out to PCNC?

Dogs are unfortunately not allowed at PCNC. We do have livestock on the farm (including goats and a farm dog) that do not appreciate other dogs. We ask that you keep your furry friends at home. Our farm dog (“Raydo”) is incredibly friendly and generally keeps to himself in the farm area.

  • Is PCNC open to the public?

The Panther Creek Nature Center is a membership based organization (much like a gym or pool). You must be a member in order to visit our center and use our facilities and equipment. We are not open to the public except for specified events and “Community Days”. Please visit our membership page to learn more.

We look forward to your visit!
